The founder of Uncle Billy's Brewery and Smokehouse is calling Feb. 7, a monumental day for brew pups in Texas.
Uncle Billy's is now the first brewery in state history to distribute its beer through a third party to local bars and restaurants.
Friday, Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell and State Representative Eddie Rodriguez were at Little Woodrow's to tap the first distributed craft brewed keg.
Uncle Billy's founder Rick Engel says he's excited for the future for Texas breweries.
"It's a big deal, and I think it's going to really help a lot of small businesses, small breweries be able to take it to the next level," said Engel.
The new state law that loosened limitations on craft breweries took effect on January 1st.
Engel says he and others have been working for this for almost 20 years.
