One injured in shooting at north Austin hotel

Posted: Updated:

On Friday at about 5:30 p.m. Austin police responded to an active shooter situation at the Extended Stay America in north Austin, on Gracy Farms Lane.

The victim is described as an African-American man in his 30s, with one gunshot wound to the leg. He has been transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition.

Investigators say they have everyone they're interested in talking to right now and are no longer searching the area. They still can't tell us if the shooting happened inside the Extended Stay America.

"We're looking at everything, it could possibly be an accidental shooting, but we have to look at the broad spectrum and work from what we've got," said APD Cpl. Why Tantaksinanukij.

For those of you who live in the area, investigator say there's no longer a need for you to be worried about your safety.

Hotel occupants were allowed to return to their rooms after 10 p.m.
