Detroit police say they have a person in custody after a woman was taken from a gas station Wednesday morning, beat up and burned with a blow torch. The woman escaped by stabbing a screwdriver in her attacker's eye.

"Officers in the 12th precinct responded to a home invasion in progress. They responded to the location within six minutes and at that time they arrested our suspect," Chief James Craig says.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Roderick Neely, 23, with Torture, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault with Intent to Maim, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, Assault with Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct , Felon In Possession and Felony Firearm.

The suspect could also have a possible connection with two violent attacks that happened this past summer. Both attacks were just blocks away from Wednesday's attempted assault, and all three victims were burned. Police are putting together a case investigating the possible connection.
