OSHA cites frozen food company for safety violations

Posted: Updated:

A Round Rock frozen food company is facing $42,000 in fines for an ammonia leak last July.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, cited Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods for six safety violations.

According to OSHA, the leak happened when a forklift broke part of an ammonia storage vessel.

OSHA says Michael Angelo's has a long history of violations and has paid $279,000 in fines over the past several years.

The company has 15 days to contest or comply with the penalties.
