CapMetro is increasing some of its services at the end of the month and the Transportation Agency will also increase some of its fares.
The first of two Metro-Rapid bus routes will begin on January 26th. The double car buses will travel from Tech Ridge to the north, through downtown, and then to the Southpark Meadows shopping center.
The other route from the Domain to the Westgate Mall will begin later this summer.
"We have a lot of new amenities that we hope will give people back their time to do more during their commute," said CapMetro spokesperson Melissa Ayala
Along with the new buses, you will have to pay a little more to ride. That includes one flat fee of $2.75, for taking the MetroRail. The change has some like Rene Zuniga thinking about changing the way they'll commute.
"Yeah I'll have to re-plan my path because I might not need to take the train, and there is that rapid bus that's happening, So I'm like it all comes down to money," said Zuniga.
A new smart phone App is also being launched. It will allow you to buy tickets using your phone. The screen is scanned when you board. So you will no longer need a paper ticket when using the App.
