University of Texas President Bill Powers will meet with President Obama today in Washington to discuss higher education issues in the United States.
According to the White House, the event, titled "Expanding College Opportunity," will bring business and education leaders from across the country together to speak with the President and First Lady about higher education issues such as tuition and accessibility.
Powers is the chairman of the Association of American Universities, and has spoken out against the White House's stance on tuition and other education policies.
In 2012, Powers disagreed with President Obama saying he would like to see tuition rates lowered. He suggested such a move would only damage the quality of the education students receive.
The event is expected to begin just after 10:00 ET this morning. It is open to the press.
