Prescribed burn at Onion Creek Management Unit set for Jan. 16
Austin Water Utility Wildland Conservation Division plans to conduct a prescribed burn at the Onion Creek Management Unit on Jan. 16.
The burn is an effort to manage the density of brush and encourage the growth of native grasses. It will cover 475 acres, located south of FM 967, west of Buda. It's expected to take approximately 6 to 7 hours to complete.
The burn will be managed by the Austin Water Utility's Wildland Conservation Division and conducted in cooperation with the Austin Fire Department, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and The Nature Conservancy.
