Atlantic City's Revel Casino Hotel continues to book some pretty impressive entertainment artists as it and other casino resorts work through some tough financial times along the Jersey Shore.

Academy Award-winning actor and singer Jamie Foxx is bringing a hybrid music and comedy show to Ovation Hall Friday, March 7. Then multiplatinum alt-rock band Live takes the stage Friday, June 20.

Foxx gained fans and attention as a cast member on the wacky sketch comedy series "In Living Color" but later cemented himself as versatile dramatic actor in "Any Given Sunday," "Collateral," and "Ali." He won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in "Ray." As a singer, Foxx struck platinum with the 2008 R&B hit "Intuition."

The alt-rock band Live is best-known for the hit album "Throwing Copper." Through the York, Pa., band has endured some ups and downs in recent years with the less-than-amicable departure of lead singer Ed Kowalczyk, the remaining founding members -- bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and the Two Chads: guitarist Taylor and drummer Gracey -- are back on the road and in the studio with longtime buddy Chris Shin at the microphone.

Live's catalog has sold 22 million albums worldwide and includes several critically acclaimed albums. The debut "Mental Jewelry" made a huge impression on MTV audiences in 1992. Then 1994's "Throwing Copper" steadily rose to No. 1 on the Billboard chart a full year after its release on the popularity of the singles (and videos) for "Lightning Crashes," "I Alone," and more.

Tickets for both shows are on now sale via Ticketmaster.

Revel opened to big fanfare in April 2012 with its 1,399 ocean-view rooms, high-class dining, and innovative architectural design.

Beyoncé played a series of sold-out shows there to kick off its first official weekend, and the property has attracted several other well-known artists, including the Eagles, Rihanna, and the Black Keys.

But like many casinos in Atlantic City, Revel faced an uphill battle in a difficult economic environment in the gaming industry and underwent bankruptcy reorganization.

    Newark school enrollment problems

    Friday, August 22 2014 5:17 PM EDT2014-08-22 21:17:11 GMT
The school year in Newark is getting off to a rocky start. Classes start in less than two weeks and parents are still waiting in line for hours to find out where their kids are enrolled. The problem is being blamed on a glitch in the school's new online open enrollment system. To say mother of three Jennifer Caraballo is frustrated may be an understatement. She is one of hundreds of Newark parents desperately now trying to find a new school for her children.
