"Dangerous and terrifying," that's how Texas Senator Ted Cruz described President Obama Friday. The fire-brand Senator criticized the President while speaking at a conference organized by a local conservative watchdog group.
Senator Cruz stopped just short of saying the President should be impeached. But the Republican Tea Party favorite did say the nation was being oppressed by an Imperial Presidency and even asked Democrats to help reign it all in.
"A president who is not bound by the law, is no longer a president, and if you love liberty that should concern you greatly."
The call for action by Cruz was framed by his objections to the Affordable Care Act, which is also known as Obamacare. Senator Cruz accused the President of lawless behavior by picking and choosing what part of the Act he will enforce.
"I believe we should repeal every single word of Obamacare because Obamacare isn't working," said Senator Cruz told reporters after his speech at the Texas Public Policy Foundation event.
The Senator also suggested that Democratic Party members should help him repeal Obamacare and then draft a new open market health care reform plan.
"I differ with him, very strongly, philosophically, I don't think he has been sensitive and understanding the needs of the poor and middle income Texans, who are suffering and need help," said state Representative Sylvester Turner.
The Houston Democrat was a guest panelist at the Conservative conference, and dismissed Cruz's accusations against the President.
"No he is not being lawless," said Turner who added, "There were some that argued he has not done enough."
