What did Chris Christie's body language say?

MYFOXNY.COM -

Chris Christie is known for being unapologetic and brash. As history has shown he's not shy about hiding it.

But Thursday there was no trace of either temper or brazenness as the governor apologized for his mishandling of what's being called Bridgegate and political analysts took note.

"I am embarrassed and humiliated by the conduct of some of the people on my team," he said.

Christie spoke for two hours patiently answering every question from reporters.

But body language expert and author Tonya Reiman said there is a lot to be interpreted from what wasn't said.

"You see here he's clenching his hands together, and that's a comfort gesture and when people do this it shows they're feeling vulnerable," Reiman said. "When you see someone in his position acting vulnerable you question it."

She said Christie's more subdued tone and demeanor could send a mixed message to constituents.

"There are times during his entire speech where he's really low key and you see he's lost his dominance so you say, 'That's not Chris Christie, where is the truth?'" she said.

Professor Jeanne Zaino, a political analyst, said she believes Christie responded as best he could. But she also said Bridgegate could tarnish his presidential aspirations.

"Every time someone goes over the George Washington Bridge and there's traffic and they wonder if this was a set up by politicians, that's hard to escape," Zaino said.

Christie vowed to restore the trust of voters but it seems only time will tell whether he'll be able to do that.

The Boys and Girls Club of Newark seems like the last place you'd expect to find the daughter of hip hop royalty. But when it comes to inspiring young girls, Angela Simmons, daughter of Rev. Run of Run DMC, believes in the old adage "each one, teach one." While it may seem like she had a silver spoon in her mouth, she knows the importance of giving back.

Several beaches on the New Jersey and New York coastlines are open to visitors but closed to swimming because of high surf and dangerous rip currents. The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory and Rip Current Statement for the area beaches because of the effects of Hurricane Cristobal, which is expected to track south and east of the Jersey shore through Thursday.
