City New Year’s Eve celebrations to include concert, fireworks

On Tuesday workers made their final preparations for the city of Austin's New Year's Eve celebration at auditorium shores.

The annual event is free and family friendly. People will be able to start showing up at 5:00 PM.

Stages have been set up for live music which will include performances by Groundwork Music Orchestra and Sara Hickman. There will also be dance performances from a number of groups. Local food vendors will also be a part of the event.

A screen has been set up to show selections from Austin film organizations as well.

The event will end with a fireworks show at 10:00 PM.

There will be some road closures for the event:

Cesar Chavez will be closed from MoPac to the South First Street bridge from 9 to 11 PM

South First Street from Cesar Chavez to Riverside will be closed from 9 to 11 PM

Riverside Drive east of the Palmer Events Center will be closed from 4 to 11 PM
