We don't see a lot of Michigan first lady Sue Snyder but for the last three years, at her husband's urging, she has sat down to discuss once a year life with him and with the family. Right now the first lady worries about daughter Kelsey heading off to college next year.

While the governor is off running the state the first lady struggles to carve out family time with him and the three children. Sunday dinners are a big deal.

Gov. Snyder says the dinner isn't mandatory, but "the kids really want to. The nice part is, our kids are at an age now where they actually recognize we have value," he says, laughing.

And one of those Sunday confabs - the first lady and her two daughters discuss pending legislation forcing a woman to purchase abortion insurance. Were they lobbying the governor for a veto?

She says, "I don't know that we lobbied him; it was something very near and dear to us as females. And, we talked about it as a family," - and the governor vetoed the bill.

Gov. Snyder faces a constant struggle to be governor while trying to be dad and spouse. On the eve of her spouse's re-election bid, the first lady quietly conceives that this past year was a challenge time wise.

After 26 years together, the governor thanks her for what she does: "Taking care of the family," he says.

If he loses the election next year, the first lady says she will feel sad, especially for the state of Michigan because he's doing so much.
