Santa also got a little help from Austin's men and women in blue. The annual APD Shop with a Cop took place this morning.
The program which is also known as "Amigos en Azul" helps children from disadvantage homes experience the Christmas spirit.
About 50 kids from Perez and Barrington elementary schools took part today. This year enough money was raised to give each child $100 and most did not spend the cash just on themselves.
"Oh its really heartwarming, when you go in there and walking around with the child and they're picking out the gifts and they are telling you the age of the brothers and siblings and what they are picking for them and looking for them and their parents, so it is really neat for them to hear this coming from them," APD Assistant Chief Raul Munguia said.
Along with spending the morning shopping with a new friend with a badge, the kids also got a special visit from old Saint Nick himself.
