A police standoff in Lakeway ended peacefully with one man being taken into custody Sunday night.

Lakeway Police received an assault call just before 6:00 PM. When officers arrived, a man ran inside a duplex. The victim told police the suspect was armed and drunk. Officers tried to make contact with the man but were unsuccessful. A standoff ensued and the Travis County SWAT Team was called.

A neighbor told FOX 7 that a woman who had obviously been beaten asked her to use her phone. She said the man she lived with hit her during an argument.

"As they were attempting to gather more intel in this case, they went to the neighbors residence and encountered him there where he had obviously broke in over there," Lakeway Police Chief Todd Radford said. "So he was taken into custody. Everybody here went home tonight without injury or incident and he is now going down to Travis County Jail."

The man is has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespassing for breaking into the neighbor's home.
