NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A shift in the traffic pattern along heavily congested  Route 139 in Jersey City begins Friday, Dec. 13.

The divider will be moved creating two lanes of traffic in the area during the busiest times of day.

Two lanes will be open during peak driving times and only one lane will be open during off-peak hours.

The peak direction schedule is as follows:

*Weekdays, eastbound 5A-11A/westbound 11:30A-9P (Friday until 11 pm)

*Saturday, westbound 9A-11P

*Sunday, westbound 9A-2P/eastbound 2:30P-11P

*Holidays, westbound 12A-2P/eastbound 2P-11:59P

The NJ Department of Transportation says the change in the traffic pattern which will be in effect through March 1, 2014  is the latest phase in the rehabilitation project of the 80-year-old Pulaski Skyway.
