Defense testimony for Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg began Wednesday morning. County attorneys, who have argued over the past two days for Lehmberg's removal from office, rested their case this morning.
Lehmberg's defense attorney began his defense by asking the judge to dismiss the case. The judge rejected the attorney's request. The focus of the defense has now shifted to showing that the Lehmberg's problem with alcohol has not and will not affect her job performance.
County attorneys say the District Attorney has damaged the office and her addiction to alcohol could lead to another incident, causing more damage.
There has been no evidence presented of Lehmberg drinking on the job.
