Take a look at the surveillance video from over the weekend -- the person shown is one of two people caught breaking into the Salvation Army office where the money from those red kettle donations were kept.

$1,700 was taken -- a big loss for the Salvation Army during the holiday season.

The suspect was identified and he was someone who was actually helped out by the Salvation Army in his time of need.

So why would he do this?  Well, he is talking about what he is seen on video doing, saying he was only looking for food and water -- but there was plenty of that out in the open.  He spoke to FOX 10 from the Lower Buckeye Jail and apologized.

"It is embarrassing, I know."

That's how 38-year-old Mark Dollar feels when he sees the video of himself kicking a door at the Salvation Army he knew very well.

"I just went in there to get some food and water and I ran into an old friend who asked if there is any money in there and I guess he went in there and took some money or something I guess."

Salvation Army officials showed us the hole the suspects cut in a wall in order to get inside the facility near 59th Avenue and Glendale.  They recognized Dollar from the video.

The surveillance video shows one suspect, who Glendale Police believe is 52-year-old John Bardy, wheeling a safe through the building.  Dollar claims he had nothing to do with stealing the safe.

"I didn't think he was going to go back and do something like that. I would've never taken the safe. Even if the safe was open, I probably would have taken a little bit of money.. I wouldn't have taken it all. I wouldn't have taken the whole safe," said Dollar.

The suspect seen wheeling out the safe is still on the loose.  Dollar was arrested last Thursday.

"I apologize.  I am sorry for what I did.  I wish I could make it right, but I am going to pay the price for it.  It was nice knowing you.  Good luck.. I am sorry," said Dollar.

If you have any information on Bardy's whereabouts, call the Glendale Police at 623-930-3000.
