AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - University of Texas System regents say they're planning to discuss the employment of Austin campus President Bill Powers, who has sparred with lawmakers and critics over his job in recent years.

An agenda posted Monday lists a closed-door meeting for this week indicating that regents will take up a "recommendation" about Powers, who has helmed the system's flagship campus since 2006.

The agenda provides no further details.

Spokespersons for both the UT System and Powers declined comment on the meeting set for Thursday.

The meeting comes at a time when Regent Wallace Hall faces impeachment over accusations that he misused his office in an attempt to force out Powers. It's also taking place as speculation surrounds the future of football coach Mack Brown, who has counted Powers among his supporters.
