MESA, Ariz. -

Mesa police have identified the body found in a dumpster at an apartment complex near Loop 202 and Country Club Drive on Friday.

The body of 14-year-old Claudia Ann Lucero was found in a dumpster at the Sun Garden Apartments.

Police say she was last seen on Thursday morning around 6:30 a.m. at her home in Mesa.

Investigators are working to figure out the circumstances of Lucero's death, but did say she didn't live at the apartments where she was found.

Her body was discovered by two women who were going through the trash around 1 a.m. on Friday.

Claudia's brother posted a message on Facebook:

"Yes, all you all may know it was my sister who they found in the dumpster on Friday morning on Brown and Horne.  I miss her lots.  It's hard right now to think straight knowing it was her and to know she was my one and only sister.. and my mom's one and only daughter.  I love you Claudia. I will never forget you and hope you're there to watch over my daughters. Miss you my lil shorty."

If you have any information, you're asked to call Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211 or Silent Witness at 480- WITNESS.
