Good Samaritans Help Mother After Car Stolen, Child Inside

Erica Forston was reunited with her infant son Chase Saturday after police say Forston's little blessing was taken from her on the 2000 block of East Firth.

The 10 month old boy was still strapped in his car seat in the back of Forston's stolen Cadillac when he was taken on a wild ride.

"I didn't have any feelings," explained Forston. I felt like the life was out of my body. I'm a three and a half year cancer survivor so just to have him is a blessing."

Forston's 14-year-old niece Quadirah Forston was watching Chase while his mother

checked on a relative's house in the Kensington neighborhood.

When the female crook took off with the car, "I heard someone scream, 'call the cops! Someone took my baby!' then I heard the car screech, "said Frank Shipley.

Shipley is one of three good Samaritans who helped capture the suspected car thief. He and a group of friends hopped in their vehicles and chased the female suspect down.

Shipley was spotted in cell phone video wearing a gray hoodie--holding the suspect down on the ground until police arrived.

"I don't know what was in my head I was just worried about getting that kid out of the car."

Now Shipley is worried about providing for his 11-month-old daughter Miracle and her three older siblings this holiday season.

"My truck is my everything. It's my bills, Christmas. It's my everything. That's that's how I support my family. Without it there's no money."

The 33-year-old licensed contractor is now forced to use his sister's truck for work after he says the engine on his minivan blew out on Interstate 95 Monday.

The damage done Saturday he says when he was about to put oil in it and left the cap off

while racing through the streets of Kensington to reunite Forston with her son.

"His vehicle is totaled because he was selfless and helped me in my time of need," said Forston. I'm trying my best any way to get him a car.

"I didn't do this for any handouts. It's appreciative for whoever wants to help out," said Shipley.
