Lighting of Zilker tree ceremony to be held Sunday
The lighting of the Zilker holiday tree ceremony will be Sunday night at 6 p.m.
The 155-foot tall decoration has been part of the Austin Christmas season since 1967. It's made up of two stars, 75 frosted bulbs each at the top of the moonlight tower that's connected with 39-streamers to light up the tree. The streamers contain nearly 3,200 red, yellow, green and blue bulbs
Then next Sunday, December 8th, the Trail of Lights returns. It will run for 15 days, from December 8th through the 22nd at Zilker Park.
The event features more than 30-lighted displays, food trailers, live music, and Santa Claus and it's all free and open to the public.
