Restaurant offers Thanksgivukkah menu

Kutschers in Tribeca is cooking up a special holiday meal.

It's for Thanksgivukka, a term that's being used to define a cultural phenomenon....

This year for the first time in 125 years, Thanksgiving and the first night of Hanukkah fall on the same night!

Rather than choose one holiday to celebrate owner Zach Kutscher decided his restaurant would celebrate both.

“We've got all sorts of goodies in each and every dish that sort of is the best of Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and what we do each day" Kutscher said.

All of the dishes on the four-course Thanksgivukkah menu combine thanksgiving specialties - with traditional jewish foods.

For example, the sweet potato latkes, with an apple cranberry compote and sour cream.

“The most significant hanukkah food is by far the latke,” Kutscher said. “So you take from Thanksgiving the sweet potato, the cranberry, and voila."

One of his personal favorites is a pumpkin schlishka, which essentially is a gnocchi, with sage brown butter, olive oil schmaltz and pecorino cheese.

There's also challah stuffing with mushrooms and roasted chestnuts and in addition to turkey, brisket will also be served.

And who could forget dessert?

There's a pecan pie babka creation and a spin on a hanukkah classic, sufganyot.

“Sufganyot which is basically a donut, kinda munchkin sized, stuffed with a cranberry raspberry jelly, with a chocolate hanukkah gelt dipping sauce," Kutsher said.

Kutschers will be offering its Thanksgivukkah menu through Friday night after Thanksgiving.

After this year, the two holidays will not fall on the same day for about 70,000 years.
