If you're hopelessly single and not looking forward to sharing that fact with your family again this Thanksgiving, a new kind of website may help. For a monthly fee, it'll set you up with a non-existent lady friend!
That's right, "Invisible Girlfriend" is a real website that's launching soon.
According to their page, it's kind of like a cell phone plan, you pick how much you want to pay per month.
$9.99 for "just talking" -- you'll get texts and automated phone calls from your phony girlfriend. The largest plan -- $49.99 a month, called "Almost Engaged" -- you get to put your relationship on Facebook, custom girlfriend characterization and live phone calls.
Whitney Williamson and Jose Ortiz are not single...but they thought it was hilarious.
"No way! Oh my gosh! That defeats the entire purpose though because you still know you're single, therefore you're still unhappy," Williamson said.
Ryan Mcnair does have a girlfriend.
"Yeah we met in person, she's...real," he said.
If he were single though, InvisibleGirlfriend.com is not something he would use.
"No...I hope not at least," he said.
According to an article on BuzzFeed, Invisible Girlfriend was pretty much thrown together in a couple of days and the guy who pitched the idea won first place at the Startup Weekend competition in St. Louis.
"From a business perspective, I think the guy's got something going I'm not gonna lie. I mean like, let's be honest, there's lonely people out there, you can make money off of them! So if he's doing it like that then fine, more power to you buddy," Ortiz said.
So what would you do? Would you use it?
