PHOENIX -

It's a story we've been telling you about for weeks -- an Arizona teen with a big dream gets something she never imagined.

The teen's life story was played on screen in a homemade music video to Katy Perry's "Roar."

"The song is more about female empowerment, so we were thinking what girl in the school has gone through the most and overcome all the challenges we thought of Megan," said Clayton Mueller, who created the video.

"She was so excited to be able to do the video.  She really had no idea what the video was, where it was going to go," said Megan's mother, Kimberly Squire.

It went right to Katy Perry herself, who witnessed Megan's fight to be just like everyone else.

The video about Megan's tryout for cheer and how Verrado High School embraced her.

A part of a competition to meet Katy.  Verrado High School didn't win first place, but still got to spend time with the star at the American Music Awards.

"It was super excited, exciting," said Megan Squire.  "I sat a few rows behind Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift."

"She was chit chatting about Thanksgiving, asking Megan about school and told Megan how inspired she was by her video and what an amazing kid she was,' said Kimberly.

Amazing -- she's overcome the odds and now inspiring others, even the stars.

Megan and her family spent more than an hour with Katy Perry -- one on one, took pictures and Katy signed autographs for them too.
