There may be more to the story of a New Jersey waitress who claimed she was stiffed of a tip because she is a lesbian.
The customers now claim it was a hoax and say they have proof! The restaurant in Bridgewater wouldn't let any cameras inside when WNYW FOX NY tried to get a comment.
Less than two weeks ago, Dayna Morales had no problem talking.
She claimed a couple wrote a note on their check, saying that they weren't tipping her because of her sexual orientation. However, the couple in question says that their copy of the check and a credit card statement shows no insult and that they left a tip of almost 20%. The total bill was $93.55, and the couple left $18.00 in tip, according to their receipt. They even showed their Visa bill to NBC 4 New York to prove that they were charged $111.55.
NBC 4 New York talked with the couple. The couple told the station that they would never leave a message like that.
Soon after the former marine's story went viral, she began to get thousands of dollars in donations.
The restaurant says that it's investigating.
