NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A large brush fire continued to burn at Tallman Mountain State Park in Rockland County, N.Y., on Friday. The fire stretched over about 40 acres on Clausland Mountain in the park.

Late Friday morning crews started dumping water from the air on the flames.  Crews on the ground were dragging hoses through the rough terrain to get to the flames.

The Orangeburg fire department says conditions have been dry and windy in the area of the fire.  They were attempting to keep the flames spreading to some houses.

Authorities called nearby residents to be aware of what was going on and to call for help if the fire moves closer to them.

Police and fire departments from several surrounding communities responded, but were operating cautiously because of the danger.

The fire started after 1 p.m. near the local hangout and landmark called TZ Rock.

No injuries were reported.

President Barack Obama is going on a fundraising sweep through New York and Rhode Island as he continues to help Democrats raise money for November's elections. Obama headlines three events on Friday. Two in Westchester County, and the third is in Newport, Rhode Island. The New York fundraisers will benefit the Democratic National Committee, which is still paying off debt from the 2012 campaign season.
