CapMetro showed off new buses they say will reduce commute times.
The MetroRapid buses are 60-foot long and will run north Lamar to Congress and Burnet Road to South Lamar. They'll allow for boarding through several doors and only make limited stops along routes.
The buses are also equipped with technology that sends a beam to keep approaching green lights green when buses are behind schedule.
CapMetro says these vehicles will do nothing but enhance public transportation.
"Being able to move as many people through the corridor, through traffic, and getting them to their destination sooner than they would have on a regular bus service," said Kenneth Cartwright, Vice President of Capital Project.
The first ones will be hitting the streets early next year.
