The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved a $5 million disaster plan from the state of Texas to help Bastrop County recover from the 2011 wildfires.
The plan relies on block grants provided by HUD.
The department gave Texas $5 million dollars earlier this year for some of the hardest hit areas in Bastrop County.
That's in addition to about $31-million HUD gave to the state last year to promote recovery for the fires.
The state plans to use the money for disaster relief, long-term recovery, and restoring infrastructure in the worst affected areas.
