9 constitutional amendments up for vote in TX elections

Posted: Updated:

It is Election Day in Texas. There may not be any major state or national offices up for consideration, but there are several important issues on the ballots for voters to consider.

Nine constitutional amendments are up for a vote today, including Proposition 6, which would create a $2 billion fund to pay for new water projects in the Lone Star state, and the more controversial $65 million Affordable Housing Bond. Supporters of this proposal say the money will be used by local organizations to build and/or renovate about 3,400 homes in the Austin area.

Opponents of the bond say it will hurt current homeowners who are already paying too much in property taxes.

The polls opened this morning at 7:00a.m. and will close tonight at 7:00 p.m.
