A high school football team in Central Texas helping a veteran in need.
He earned five bronze stars but nearly lost his life while stranded solo in the bitter cold.
Dave Clark was rescued but now his body is paying for that war time. He and his wife wanted to repair their crumbling home with ramps and hardwood that would help Clark get around better.
With no contractor willing to take the role, the couple and their daughter went to the community for help. And the community was there with helping hands.
"To come and be a part of this project and helped someone who risked their life for our freedom, this is the least we could do," Collin Nail said.
Rusty Nail added, "We wanted to pay forward what he served and what he'd done for us years ago."
The Mart football team was especially a big help and with the strength in numbers Clark finally has a perfect spot to call home.
"It just of numbed you. You didn't know what to say or think. It just, all I could think of was they're wonderful, very thoughtful people," Clark said.
