5K through Mesa neighborhood leaves runners doused in color

MESA, Ariz. -

It might not sound possible to make running fun, but this may change your mind.

Mesa hosted the Color Vibe 5K Run for Charity Saturday and all runners left doused in colored chalk.

Tutus, tube socks and shades-all covered in color!

"I wanted to get all colorful," said Payson Mecham.

"The vibe, the music, the people, it's great," said Kim Wells.

Runners started their bright adventure at 9 a.m. and ran through a Mesa neighborhood.

Color stations stocked with 20 pound boxes of pink, purple, green and blue chalk lined the path.

Loretta Jones volunteered to toss the powder onto passersby, including her family members.

"It is so fun, four have gone through so far," said Jones.

Even leaf blowers sprayed the crowd with clouds of color.

There's only one problem that can come from all this fun: how to get all the color off.

"I'm not. I'm gonna keep it on probably for the rest of my life," said Mecham.

If you spotted any blue, pink, green or purple people Saturday, now you know why.

All of the proceeds went to Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks, which provide camps for kids with cancer and their siblings.
