The Red Cross is stepping in to help those affected by the floods. A shelter has been opened in Southeast Austin at Parker Lane United Methodist Church. There is also a shelter at the Dove Springs Recreation Center at 5801 Ainez Drive. Today, that's where The City of Austin Flood Assistance Center opened. The Red Cross is there to help flood victims. Donations can be dropped off at the Austin Disaster Relief Network at Oak Meadows Baptist Church on South I-35.

Saturday, H-E-B has donated $17,000 to the Red Cross and handing out clean up kits and gift cards to flood victims in South Austin. The kits include household cleaning supplies, bug spray and other items. Red Cross volunteers spent the morning going door to door handing out the kits.
