CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two deer wandered into the courtyard of a Gold Coast neighborhood Thursday, drawing puzzled looks from gawkers dressed in Halloween costumes before both animals were tranquilized and hauled away by Animal Care and Control workers, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The deer, one a buck with antlers, sat beneath a bush and wandered the grassy space outside 1260 N. State Street for several hours before authorities arrived and closed off the area, according to Gina Locascio, who tends bar at the Zebra Lounge, which is located on the ground floor of the building.

"We've had coyotes, cougar, deer ... The only thing we haven't seen is a brown bear," joked a Chicago police officer who was patrolling the area on a bike.
