After it was canceled last year due to superstorm Sandy and after concerns this year that organizers would not have enough funding to throw the event, the Village Halloween Parade is underway with its usual throngs of wildly dressed people of all ages.

Among the floats that made their way up Sixth Ave. was the Daft Punk tribute float organized by a group of New Yorkers who are "big fans" of the European music duo.
Halloween-themed events abound in the Big Apple on Halloween.

Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota was set to greeting voters at the City Island Halloween parade in the Bronx. His Democratic rival, Bill de Blasio, is marching in Brooklyn's Park Slope parade.
