FARGO, ND -

Some Trick-or-Treaters in North Dakota won't be getting candy this year, instead, a woman will reportedly hand out a letter to kids she thinks are overweight.

Valley News Live reports a woman want to stop childhood obesity one candy at a time during a radio interview on Tuesday morning.

If she thinks the kids are "moderately obese," they'll get a letter to give to their parents that says they could use a little less candy on the sugar-filled Halloween holiday.

The writer of the letter said in an interview with radio station Y-94, "I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight... I think it's just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just 'cause all the other kids are doing it."

The letter reads, in part:

"You child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season.

My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits."

The woman uses the saying "it takes a village to raise a child" as an apparent reason for her interference.
