Bastrop officers warn of police impersonator

Posted: Updated:

Bastrop police are warning citizens to be cautious after they say someone was impersonating a police officer, and tried pulling a woman over.

It happened Friday around 10 p.m.

Police say a woman driving on Highway 71 was being tailgated and the driver of a four-door beige vehicle turned on a red flashing light on the roof of the car. She turned northbound onto Highway 95, and into the Buc-ee's parking lot. That's when the other driver sped off.

Bastrop police say no unmarked vehicle tried pulling that woman over.

Police say if you are ever in a similar situation, do not stop in any secluded area. Locate a well-lit parking lot, like a shopping center or convenience store. In the daylight, you should also look for an area with pedestrian activity. Don't be afraid to call police about any suspicious activity.
