Fire Causes $1M In Damage To Yuengling Brewery In Fla.

Posted: Updated:

Fire crews in North Tampa found a Yuengling Brewery engulfed in flames Saturday night.

Officials said the blaze was started accidentally and has done at least $1 million worth of damage.

Crews had the blaze under control about an hour after arrival, but the damage had already been done.

Firefighters attempted to reach hot spots and embers around the third story of the building between the exterior and interior wall.

"They're trying to, basically, access it from the exterior. It's not safe enough for our firefighters to make access and try and reach the scene of that fire from the inside right now," one official said at the scene.

There's no word yet on what exactly caused the blaze, and no brewery workers were injured.

D.G. Yuengling & Son, which is headquartered in Pottsville, Pa., advertises that it's the oldest operating brewing company in the United States, established in 1829.
