Judge Rules Convicted Serial Rapist Could Be Housed In Palmdale

Posted: Updated:

A judge ruled that convicted serial rapist Christopher Hubbart will be tentatively housed at Lake Los Angeles near Palmdale after he's released from prison. Despite opposition from LA county prosecutors. In May a Santa Clara Superior Court Judge ruled Hubbart will be allowed to live LA County, and he announced the location on Friday. California law requires that a sexually violent predator be conditionally released to the county where he lived "prior to the person's incarceration," according to prosecutors.

Hubbart was born in Pasadena and lived in Claremont until 1971. The now 62-year-old man admitted raping about 40 women between 1971 and 1982. Over the years he spent several stints in jail but was released and eventually was sent back to prison after assaulting more women. His last victim was in Santa Clara County.

He's being held at Coalinga State Hospital and is expected to be released sometime in December.

LA County Supervisor Mike Antonovich is staunchly opposes Hubbart's release and says the Lake Los Angeles location is close to a park and a church. Antonovich said in a statement, "It is an outrage that an admitted sexual predator with a long history of brutal crimes against women be released in this community - or any community, He belongs in an institution where he cannot prey upon the public."

A Santa Clara prosecutor says Hubbart will be under strict supervision and electronically monitored.

I met the folks from Gunnar Optiks at CES this year and they had something new to show me. The Intercepts. I have a big head, these are big frames, it was kismet but do they work as good as they look? We'll see.
