If you're looking for some good Halloween fun for the family, you might want to head over to the Shedd Aquarium for their annual "Spooky Seas Family Overnight" event, which transforms the aquarium into a haunted encounter.
On Friday, October 25th, any human brave enough is invited to spend the night with some very spooky creatures, including aquatic vampires ready to latch on to any conversation and electric eels happy to light up anyone that comes too close.
Beyond the webbed entrance is a huge hole, home to a gigantic tarantula that would make Spiderman proud. Then, there's the "hellbender," a slithery version of "Randall the Evil Salamander" from Monsters Inc.
Of course, you can't miss the giant flesh-eating ants and super-sized cockroaches that are sure to capture your attention. And, be sure to watch out for ghost snakes--and real ones too--just waiting to curl up with you.
If the critters really give you chills, not to worry, there's plenty of non-scary fun for little ones!
"It's a family event," Shedd Aquarium's Kurt Hettiger explains. "There's dinner served, there's fun activities and games for families ages 5 & older and it goes through the morning and there will be breakfast served."
Spooky Seas starts at sundown with dinner, music and games. All you need is a sleeping bag. As for being haunted….well, you'll just have to find out yourself!
