Monday marks the first day of early voting, Travis County is hoping to make it a smooth process for those casting their ballot.
By 2:30 PM Monday, over 1,300 people had cast their ballot in Travis County.
The elections division says this is a slow start but they expect a higher turnout later on.
One concern they do have is for the over 65 year old voters. Those who have let their driver's license expire may find it difficult to go down to a DPS office and get it renewed.
They are suggested to vote by mail without a photo ID by the October 25th deadline.
Early voting runs through November 1st.
FOX 7 asked the elections division if they had been receiving any questions or concerns about the new photo ID law.
"We will be keeping metrics of all of that information, both at the polling places for early voting and election day, as well as here in our call center," said Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir. "We will find out how many people have called, what questions they have, what questions did they ask, what was the most confusing and will be able to report all that back at the conclusion of the election."
They hope to use that data to fix problems for future elections.
In order to vote, a person needs a current DPS ID card, election card or driver's license. A voter can also use a concealed handgun permit, citizenship papers, veterans cards, or a U.S. passport.
