Middle school students hold rally against drug use

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of fifth and sixth graders from across the state rallied at the State Capitol Thursday hoping to encourage other kids not to do drugs.

They were using facial hair to get their point across. Students wore mustaches and T-shirts that said, "I mustache you not to do drugs."

The middle schoolers came from the Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Austin areas.

After their rally, they held a mock legislative session in the house and senate chambers on anti-substance abuse bills they drafted earlier at school.
