Clean Eating: Healthy, sweet treats

Lisa Rice, from, joined Loriana in the Good Day kitchen to show her a few healthy treats made from all-natural ingredients.

Recipe: Cinnamon "Cookie Dough" Balls


  • 1/2 cup raw cashews or raw cashew pieces
  • 2 tbsp raw hemp seeds
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbsp shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 1-2 tbsp miniature non-dairy chocolate chips


  1. In a food processor, add the cashews, hemp seeds, salt, cinnamon, and oats and grind until crumbly.
  2. Add the dates and vanilla, and spin again for a minute or more.
  3. When the mixture begins to clump and stick add the coconut and chocolate chips and process again.  Continue to process until it forms a ball on the blade. Stop the machine and remove the dough.

If making bars: Take small scoops of the dough (a couple teaspoons in size) and roll in your hand.  Repeat until you have rolled all of the dough. 
Refrigerate for an hour or more until chilled.
Can also press into pan and make bars instead.

Recipe: Sumptuous Lemon Bars


  • 1 heaping cup raw cashew pieces (or whole raw cashews)
  • 1/2 cup raw almonds
  • 2 *Meyer lemons juiced and zested (separate juice from zest) *Can use regular lemons if Meyers are unavailable
  • 10 - 12 medjool dates, pits removed

Garnish: 1/2 - 3/4 cup shredded coconut


  1. Blend nuts and zest in the processor until broken down a bit.
  2. Add dates and juice and process until a smooth mass forms. 
  3. Roll walnut sized balls into your palms.
  4. Press into square or rectangular pyrex and chill.
  5. Cut into bars and serve. *Can also roll into balls.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator

Recipe: Decadent Raw Vegan Chocolate truffles


  • 1 - 2 cups medjool dates, pits removed
  • 1 - 2 cups raw walnuts, pecans or combo (just make sure there is an even amount of nuts to dates)
  • 1 vanilla bean scraped or 1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla
  • 1 generous scoop (1/4 cup or more!) raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • pinch or two of Himalayan salt


  • 1/2 cup or more cacao or cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut


  1. Blend everything in food processor until it clumps into a thick mass (kind of like Playdo).
  2. Roll walnut sized balls in your hands (it will get very oily from the nuts).
  3. Roll each ball in cacao/cocoa powder (1/2 cup may not be enough, so be prepared to add more as you go along).
  4. Take half the balls you've rolled in the powder and roll in the coconut.
  5. Chill in fridge and enjoy!

Recipe: Avocado Chocolate Mousse


  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 T coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup agave or pure Grade B maple syrup (or honey for a non-vegan version)
  • 3 dates soaked in warm water for 15 minutes and drained
  • 1/2 cup cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 vanilla bean scraped or 2 teaspoons alcohol-free vanilla
  • 1/2 to 1 cup non-dairy milk or as needed to achieve smooth consistency
  • pinch of himalayan or other good quality sea salt


  1. Add oil, dates, honey, vanilla, half your non-dairy milk, avocados, cocoa powder to a blender or food processor.
  2. Blend until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Spoon into ramekins or bowls, cover and chill.

*Optional: Garnish with fresh berries, mint and chopped nuts
