Authorities say a body was discovered in a south Austin neighborhood that was hit by heavy rainfall causing flooding over the weekend. About a dozen people had to be evacuated from their homes.
A homeowner cleaning his property in the 300 block of Heartwood Dr. discovered the body of middle-aged white man, just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Police believe the body is that of a potential victim from this weekend's flooding and was swept away by rising flood waters. They say the body was found covered in debris, where the creek had risen and receded after the weekend rain.
Police say there have been no reports of a missing person in that area.
An autopsy has been ordered.
