Those who have given the gift of life-- in some cases, after their death-- were honored today at a special ceremony.
Organ recipients were on hand for the Lights of Life Ceremony, which celebrated stories of survival, like that of Leticia's.
Five years ago, Leticia received the gift of a lifetime: a kidney transplant.
She was able to quit dialysis treatments and live the life she always wanted, seeing her children grow up and complete accomplishments.
But for some, like heart transplant recipient, Kristen Lester, the happy occasion of receiving a vital organ was bittersweet.
Lester says, "I think you go through every emotion because your heart breaks because someone else has lost their life. But, on the other hand, you're looking at, oh, I get to go on. I was raising two sons, and I get to be there for them. But, I make sure that my family honors the ones behind me that gave."
Eight organ recipients and their families, as well as families of organ donors, participated in today's ceremony.
