A decorated US hero, Terrence Hill, Jr., 24, of Detroit, enlisted in the US Navy when he was 17. After serving a tour of duty in the Persian Gulf, Hill trained Navy personnel at a training station in Illinois. Jan. 4, 2013 he was given a two day leave and he came home to visit family and friends.

That weekend a Detroit police detective came to his mother's door. The Navy officer could not be revived. Police told his mother Hill was sitting in his Ford F-150 pickup on Manor at Seven Mile on Detroit's west side. Terrence was visiting a woman he grew up with. A man with a gun walked up, it was robbery according to police. Hill's wallet and cell phone were stolen and Hill was shot.

"Terrence was a good guy," said his mother, Julia Spencer. "Of course if they wanted something from him he's not the type to just give it to you. He fought and I'm not mad at him for fighting. He was in the military and he stood up for what he believed. Defending. And if it was defending a girl who was with him or defending his own honor he did it and I'm proud of him."

Anyone who knows anything is asked to speak up. The killer is still out there. He served in Iraq, he stood up for us, now we need to stand up for him. Call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP. You can remain anonymous.
