15 Douglas middle schoolers treated for drug use

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say 15 middle school students in Douglas have been taken to a hospital after reportedly taking a prescription drug.

The students were treated by Douglas Fire Department paramedics at Ray Borane Middle School on Friday before being transported to Southeast Arizona Medical Center.

Hospital officials say the students arrived at the hospital's emergency room by 10 a.m. and some of them were drowsy, confused or combative.

Firefighters and teachers who came with the 13-year-old and 14-year-old students told hospital personnel that apparently one of the students had a prescription drug and shared it with other students.

The Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/190kQlJ) says the drug hasn't been identified.

Most of the students have been treated and met with a behavioral health crisis team counselor before being released to their parents.
