Dog Eats Owner's Money; Gets Bailout

HELENA, Mont. -

Dogs sometimes eat strange things, and it can be a costly mistake for their owners.

A 12-year-old dog named Sundance got the US Treasury involved after what he ate.

His owner, Wayne Klinkel, left him in the car while he grabbed a bite to eat with his daughter. While they were in the restaurant, Sundance opened an envelope that had five-hundred dollars in it and made a feast out of the money.

Knowing that paper doesn't digest, Klinkel picked through the dog's waste and reassembled the money.

He then sent it to the US Treasury.

And they sent him a check back for five hundred dollars.

"It was great to get the check after all the crap I went through," Klinkel, a graphic artist at the Independent Record newspaper, joked. "I gave Sundance a pat, showed it to him and told him not to eat it."
