Student Suspended Over Gun Keychain, Says Parents

These days, schools are taking more precautions than ever when it comes to gun threats. However, one school in Rhode Island is facing some back-lash for suspending a student who brought in a gun key-chain.

It's about the size of a quarter. The boy's parents say that the seventh grader was suspended for three days, after this toy gun fell from his backpack. They say that another boy picked it up, and showed it to his classmates. The teacher then took the key chain, and sent the student to the principal's office. The student was suspended for three days and also banned from an upcoming school field trip.

The suspended student's parents are outraged, saying their child is a straight-A student taking advanced math, and he had perfect attendance last year. The school is keeping tight-lipped about the situation, saying they don't comment on disciplinary issues.
