Car Accident Causes Building Collapse In North Phila

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that led to a partial building collapse in North Philadelphia.

"Somebody could have died," one witness told FOX 29.

Police and neighbors were at the frightening scene of a Ford Excursion showered with bricks after slamming into an abandoned building on the 1100 West Silver Street .

Witnesses said the SUV sped past their house ran through a stop sign only to be stopped by the building.

"Then when it hit the wall, the impact was so hard the wall fell on them. Just came crashing down," Angnes Dunlap said.

That's when neighbor Chris King said he called upon his medical training and teamed up with others to save the four women inside.

"I immediately went and got my medical bag, came up to the car we started throwing bricks off the young lady that was in the front of the vehicle. Two young ladies in the back of the vehicle (one said) she was pregnant," King said.

The victims are in stable condition at Temple University hospital, but there's still a fear more of the building may come down. Investigators are working that end of the case.
