PA Dog In Need Of Heart Surgery

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -

Meet Jessica Thompson a 17-year-old girl born with a rare genetic disorder "Metachromatic Leukodystrophy". MLD destroys the nerves which affect all motor skills. Thompson cannot walk and she can only eat from a tube.

Meet, Tucker, Jessica's 17-week-old boxer puppy diagnosed with a patent ductus arterosis heat murmur.

Jessica's family said the only enjoyment throughout Jessica's day is Tucker. The friendly pup is always there to cheer her up. Tucker was adopted by the Thompson's after they tragically had to put their 9-year-old family dog, Nakita, to sleep while Jessica was hospitalized.

The Pittsburgh family was hesitant to get another dog after that traumatic experience, but they knew Jessica missed having a dog around.

A local charity, The Mia Foundation, is helping Tucker get the lifesaving surgery that he so desperately needs. Tucker will be going to see a cardiologist on Tuesday Oct. 1.

If you would like to help Tucker. Visit the Mia Foundation website.
